2-step verification

Two-step verification is an advanced security feature that protects your login even if someone has stolen your password.

That means, even if someone knows your password, they cannot log into Checkvist without a unique code generated by the authenticator app on your mobile device.

How to set up 2-step verification

  1. Open your Profile page, scroll down and press the Enable 2-step verification button.
  2. Confirm this action with your Checkvist password. We need this to verify this is actually you who is activating the additional verification.
  3. On the following page, you will see the QR-code and the 'Secret key'. To enable the 2-step verification, you'll need one of the Authentication apps, like Google Authenticator app, Microsoft Authenticator app, LastPass Authenticator, Authy, or other authenticator.
  4. Scan the QR-code with your mobile device. If you have problems with scanning, use the Secret key under the QR-code.
  5. Enter the code generated by your authentication app. That enables 2-step verification for all your Checkvist applications in all browsers, including the Web Clipper and the mobile app.
  6. Now you should download the file with backup codes. You can use them when you can't use your mobile device and can't verify the login with the authenticator's code.

☝️ After you turn the 2-step verification on, you'll need to use the code from the authenticator app every time you log into Checkvist, including its mobile version, Chrome and Firefox extensions.

Turn off the 2-step verification

  1. On the Profile page, scroll down and click the Enabled, view details link in the 2-step verification part.
  2. On the following page, click the Disable 2-step verification button. That removes the additional login verification from all your Checkvist applications, including the mobile app, WebClipper, Chrome or Firefox add-ons.
